If your organisation affiliates to Employee Counselling Service you will be able to use the resource of our Senior Counsellors to support Managers and Supervisors.  If one of your managers has a difficult situation to deal with and would like to talk it over they can talk directly with a Senior Counsellor.  It can be good preparation before a difficult interview to think through the likely scenarios and plan for different eventualities.  Being prepared often means a successful outcome.
